Nkokonjeru, Uganda

We made the eight hour drive to the city where St. Paul School is located. This is Coyote Ridge’s sister school!! Tomorrow we will go observe and teach with our friends here. Below are pictures of our travels through many towns and back across the Nile River with a variety of unique sites. What fascinates you? What inspires you? What questions do you have?

Lots of Laughs!!

Lots of fun was had on our last day visiting Parents’ Junior School in Gulu. Our friends are so sweet and funny. What an amazing connection and partnership. Our pictures show story telling with baby class. They colored their ”identity portraits” and drew the things that they love! Can you figure out what their drawings tell about them? Next, we painted with P2 and P3 classes. They loved that activity, and were so excited to get their paintings from Coronado Hills kiddos. After school, 17 of us piled in the van to have dinner together: teachers, grandmas, mamas, babies, and kids! We went to an American food restaurant. I think they might have been a little nervous trying our food. It was so different for them. How would you feel about trying traditional Ugandan food? Check our lunch picture below. It was absolutely fantastic, probably our favorite meal here so far. Tomorrow we are excited to move by van to St. Paul (Coyote Ridge’s sister school) in Nkokonjeru, Uganda.

Our Day with Students at Parents’ Junior School!

Our drive to the Parents’ Junior School was fantastic! The homes/neighborhoods were beautiful and fascinating! The road got a bit narrow as we got there;). We were so excited to teach our first lessons with P 1, 2, and 3. Take a look at their adorable work!! They LOVED the markers and crayons!! After our super busy day of fun, they cooked us a smorgasbord of a lunch! Here are some photos of this amazingly special day! What to you notice? What to you think? What do you feel?

We received our luggage! Yay! The Road to Gulu! Yippee!

Today we drove many hours to the city of Gulu. For the next two days, we will visit Coronado Hill’s sister school, Parents’ Junior! On the way we saw baboons and crossed the Nile River! What can you find out about this iconic river?

We are so excited to share pen pal projects with our friends tomorrow. They will learn so much about you! We will bring their identity portraits back for you to learn about them!

All Of The Amazing People and Places-First Day Fun

Hi friends! We missed WiFi for a day. Here is our Entebbe arrival! Everything and everyone is beautiful! The bananas and flowers are in the yard of Jackson, our project manager’s home, where we are staying. He is just starting a guest house (Air BNB), and we are first to try it out. The photo of the man and child are Jackson, and his daughter Delishia. Take a look at the water system technology of the house. Amazing! Today we spent the day meeting with the Mwebaza Annex teachers!!! We ate and swam at a local park! So refreshing after so many airplane hours. To finish the day, we took dinner with our friend Mbogo. The dinner entertainment was “share your high point and low point of the day”. What was your high point today?

On Our Way!!

Take a look at our flight travel screens!! What do you notice? How far have we gone? Where did we land? Where is our next flight? What is the time difference? Another piece of trivia, apparently 2/3 of our luggage is on another flight to Uganda. It should arrive the day after we get there. Hmmm…
